The DiSTI Corporation Wins Chilean Air Force Contract for Bell 412 Virtual Maintenance Trainer
DiSTI Will Develop Bell 412 VMT Using Virtual Maintenance Training Software, VE Studio
The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface software and customized 3D virtual maintenance training solutions announces a phase contract award from the Chilean Air Force (Fuerza Aérea de Chile–FACh) for the development of a Bell 412 Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT). The training device is designed to satisfy the Chilean Air Force’s need for a viable and sustainable maintenance training solution for the helicopter.
The Bell 412 VMT will assist in classroom instruction so students can practice concepts on the aircraft in a virtual environment. DiSTI will build an interactive virtual environment recreating the Bell 412 that will include support for multiple lessons which cover the removal and installation of major fuel system components along with operational checks.
The trainer also offers three training modes including guided tutorial, where the training device automatically demonstrates the task for the student, guided practice, where students interact with the virtual environment performing the required tasks, and assessment where students must complete each task to receive a score. The contract also includes the development of a networked instructor operating station.
